your San Francisco vacation.
Anders, our grandfather, immigrated to America in 1921 and settled in San Francisco working as a long-shore man on the docks close to Pier 39. My dad was born in San Francisco at Saint Lukes Hospital in 1938. Us kids were born at UCSF Medical Center (University California San Francisco).
We know this town. We love this town. Come with us and we'll
show you all the best places. It will be a great adventure!
For example...
Lombard is a great street and one of the crookedest. Did you
know it's not the most crooked. Come to Portero Hill and drive
down Vermont Street. It's a great time with beautiful views of
the bay and Twin Peaks.
A good beach is Aquatic Park, but you will meet every single tourist on their San Francisco vacation. Dont get me wrong, this is a nice little bay beach right in the heart of the City. Just down from Pier 39 near Hyde Street Pier it is watched over by the Maritime Museum and Ghirardelli Square. There are tons of great touristy things to do here.
A great beach is East Beach or known in the City as China Beach
over in Pacific Heights in the Marina District. Visit the
Exploratorium and Crissy Field on your way to this family
friendly beach. Save some money and have a barbecue on the
grills in he picnic area. Safe for the kids with lifeguards
and shallow waters on soft fine bay sand. China Beach is real
close to the Golden Gate Bridge and has fantastic views of he
bay, Marin and of course the famous Golden Gate.
Another example is the amazingly extensive FREE stuff to do on
a San Francisco vacation. We have an ever growing list of free
things to do on a San Francisco vacation or weekend getaway.
Here are just a few ...
First Tuesday of every month the San Francisco Museum of Modern
Art is free. That's right world famous SFMOMA free. Also half
price on Thursdays. It's super close to Union Square which can
be a free adventure in its own right. Other Tuesday free
museums are Cartoon Art Museum which is really cool, Legion of
Honor Museum in Lincoln Park and MH de Young Memorial Museum to
name just a few. See the list to view them all.
Sea Lions and free street performer shows like jugglers,
magicians and acrobats are had for the price of a lovely walk
down to the end of Pier 39.
A tour is a great way to start a Bay Area vacation.
Sight-seeing tours are a convenient and efficient way to enjoy
the many many locations and history that make San Francisco so
famous. A great free walking tour is made possible by the San
Francisco Public Library and their volunteer historians.
Chinatown, the Ferry Building, North Beach, Golden Gate Park,
Fisherman's Wharf, Japanese Tea Garden and many many more free
walking tours are available. Make sure and see the list.
Call ahead about six months or more to enjoy a free 45 minute
tour of the historic Anchor Brewing Company, home of San
Francisco's home grown Anchor Steam beer. The tour comes
complete with six - half pint tastings and a very cool history
lesson. The tour and the tasting takes about and hour and a
half, but it a very well spent 90 minutes.
You could spend hours even days researching the thousands of
different attractions, accommodations, tours, restaurants,
cruises, shows, vacation packages, beaches and fun family
vacation things to do, see and visit on a San Francisco
vacation.
